![]() ![]() In the summer of 2009, my daughter Ainsley developed an interest in showing dogs in junior handling. I have loved, and learned from, them all. Since then, my husband, children and I have owned 8 CKC registered collies: Bentley (1992-1998), Bran (1999-2009), Willow (2009-2019), her daughter Mollie (Blueharvest co-owned 2011 – 2013 – now placed), another Willow daughter, Maple (since 2013 and living with my son), Lola (since 2016), her son Rory (2018), and now her daughter Sorsha (2019). After Lassie passed away my parents owned many dogs, but I was not fortunate enough to own another collie until 1992. I always thought she was a rescue from the SPCA but found out recently that she was placed with us after her spay. My first collie was aptly (though perhaps unoriginally) named Lassie and was adopted as a retired champion dog from a local breeder. I have loved and been owned by collies since the age of ten. I am Laura, a Grade 5 Teacher in the Waterloo region with a passion for dogs and dog sports. “Dogs aren’t our whole lives, but they make our lives whole!” All of our dogs, whether collies or not, have been involved in a variety of dog sports, from conformation to obedience trialing. Both of these boys were counted as cherished family pets. Unfortunately, he ended up developing Addison’s Disease at 17 months old and we lost him in 2016 at the young age of 8. ![]() When our Finlay tragically passed of stomach cancer in the fall of 2008, we adopted a goofy standard poodle named Kingsley (2008-2016). We adopted a golden retriever, Finlay (1998-2008), and managed to live 9 months without a collie before bringing Bran home from Harvesthil. We tried to live without a collie after our boy first collie Bentley died. We have also had other dog breeds over the past 28 years. We are blessed to have learned so much about grooming, showing, junior handling, breeding, and whelping dogs from these long time experts! We thank Lisa and Chris Watts for this wonderful girl. Willow produced two lovely litters the first registered as Blueharvest and her last registered under our original kennel name, Dolceloch (est 2013). We started our kennel in 2009 with Heartache Tonight, a lovely blue merle rough collie girl from our friends Chris and Lisa Watts of Blueharvest Collies. We seek to provide families with beautiful companions that will live long, happy, healthy lives. At Caption, we health test our breeding stock for hip displasia, collie eye anomaly (CEA), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), dermatomyositis (DM), and multi-drug resistance (MDR1). Our vision is to breed dogs with excellent health while still meeting the CKC’s rough collie standard in appearance. Our family is committed to raising well adjusted, healthy, loving companions for life. We breed very rarely and take great pride in producing dogs of fine health and temperament. Caption Collies is a Waterloo-based CKC registered kennel, breeding rough collies, formed by a mother-daughter team. ![]()
